Early in my adult life, as I pondered what career I should pursue, my father, an English teacher and writer, helped me by telling me that the word, "career", means "route". And so, I started on a path that I am still on today. I have spent a decade each in different aspects of my career: elementary school teacher, nonprofit board leader, nonprofit consultant, and now, coach. The through-line to my work has been a connection to people and their learning and I continually draw upon skills and experiences from every decade in my work today. As I work with my coaching clients, I have found that It can be a relief to them to think of their careers as a route or a path. What route are you on?
